Nonna's Almond Bars

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup regular sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1/2 tsp. powder cloves
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. water
2 3/4 cups flour
2 cups slivered almonds
1 egg yolk, beaten for glaze


Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl, add wet ingredients and blend. Mixture will be crumbly.
Add a little more water if you think the mixture is too dry to work with.
Grease cookie sheet and divide dough into four equal logs, pat dough down and brush with egg yolk glaze.
Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 30 minutes, until tops are golden.
Cool slightly and cut while warm.
